Oleum Botanicals is a Sonoma County-based body care company created and crafted by Kate, born from her lifelong passion for medicinal plants, clinical expertise and ancestral plant wisdom.
Kate’s relationship with medicinal plants began in childhood. She was fascinated by the medicinal properties of plants in her parents’ garden and throughout the landscapes of Sonoma County. She studied ethnobotany, and spent years exploring South America, New Zealand, Australia, and Fiji learning traditional herbal medicine. Kate then became a Clinical Nurse-Herbalist and created Oleum Botanicals all while working as an ER nurse and raising three children.
Kate meticulously curates each ingredient and grows many of the herbs used in her formulations at her home in Sonoma County, creating small-batch organic remedies and body-care products that bridge modern healthcare with holistic, earth-based healing.

Our products are made with the highest quality organic ingredients, with a focus on radiant skin health and raw beauty. We believe in keeping things exquisite yet simple. In every small, hand-made batch of Oleum Botanicals blends, you'll find a synthesis of pure, plant-based ingredients, research, and intention.
Our products are sourced from the earth, as to us at Oleum, true beauty comes from transparency. Each ingredient we use - hydrosols, seed and nut oils, essential oils, and whole, unadulterated flowers and herbs - offers a restorative purpose. Behind these minimalist remedies is a blend of artistry and plant-based wisdom.
Oleum Botanicals was born a different sort of skincare company because our focus stems from a direct relationship between farm to jar/ bottle. We grow as many of our ingredients as possible, based on sustainable, organic farming practices. Our hands sow the seeds, tend to the soil, and harvest the bright orange Calendula flowers or the deep golden Helichrysum blossoms that you’ll find in our serums, salves, creams and body butters. When we say “made locally” we mean it in the deepest sense; the roots of our skincare products are literally in the ground where we call home. We are not simply a skincare company, we are wholly invested in the wellbeing of our environment, and this is evident in our simple, luscious products. We only use the best certified organic ingredients (for the ingredients that we purchase rather than grow ourselves), and all our products are made in small, hand-crafted batches at our skin care lab, and packaged in glass containers (avoiding plastic whenever possible). We source our ingredients as close to home as possible, supporting local organic herb farmers who we know and trust.
